Virgin Australia has unveiled its Capital Connect dedicated product for the Sydney-Canberra route. By October there will be up to 10 daily services on the route, with complimentary in-flight food, plus drinks and newspapers at certain times of the day.
 
Tiger Airways returns to Brisbane today commencing with a daily return afternoon flight from Melbourne which, as of early next week, will be joined by an additional return morning service between Melbourne and Brisbane.
 
Travel Daily reports that Chilean tourism officials were taken by surprise by yesterday's Qantas announcement that it was abandoning Buenos Aires for Santaiago as its point of entry to South America. Visiting Chilean tourism luminary, Victor Venegas, expressed his delight at the announcement, but also complete surprise. He also pondered just how the relationship between oneworld members Qantas and LAN will fare, given they will now be in competition on the Sydney-Santiago route.

Boeing has completed all flight tests required for type certification of the B787-8 Dreamliner with Rolls-Royce engines. The Sydney branch of the Royal Aeronautical Society has announced that the 2011 Sir Charles Kingsford Smith Lecture will be presented by Rodney Stiff, managing director of Jabiru Aircraft, at the Society's formal annual dinner at The Lakes Golf Club on Wednesday 30 November.
 
California-based SpaceX will launch a test flight to the International Space Station in November; the first by private enterprise since NASA closed the space shuttle program last month. The company successfully orbited its Dragon capsule in December last year.
