Sydney Airport will finally have a long-awaited airport hotel by the end of 2012.
The A$68 million four-star hotel, to be built by the Denwol Group and operated by Rydges Hotels, will be genuinely integrated with the international terminal, providing a level of convenience available at some of the region's premier hub airports such as Changi and Chek Lap Kok.
Construction will get underway before the end of this year and the hotel will be functional, if not completely finished by the close of next year.
It will offer 317 rooms plus the usual amenities, including a gymnasium.
"Sydney Airport has a direct role in the promotion of tourism in Sydney, NSW and Australia," said the Airport's CEO Kerry Mather, "and the development of a new four-star hotel will enhance Sydney as a premier destination for inbound tourism to Australia...
"For the airport to strengthen its business performance, it must continue to improve the services it provides to passengers. Investment in a new hotel will give further choice in accommodation options close to the airport."
