Darwin International Airport (DIA) is expanding its Helicopter Apron, increasing the size of its existing apron by 30%, which will accommodate up to an additional 10 aircraft.
Adjacent to this apron, two new serviced sites are also being added to the precinct, and with close access to the Heli-Pad, they offer prime opportunities for rotary operators.
The new sites will be fully serviced with water, sewerage, electricity and access to communications as well as common parking facilities for both staff and a fly-in-fly-out workforce. Site sizes range from between 1500m2 to 4000m2, subject to final design.
The expansion of these facilities, among others that DIA are currently undertaking, are in line with the economic growth Darwin is experiencing through its rich resources and growing role as an oil and gas service and supply base.
DIA also offers passenger processing facilities that assists offshore and international operations with seamless linkages for transiting workers arriving on domestic airline services from all national capital cities.
There is also a variety of on-airport accommodation and other facilities such as transport within walking distance.
There are many advantages in positioning aviation-related businesses at DIA as the emerging gas industries within Northern Australia, Timor and Papua evolve.
These include a politically stable environment, access to skilled labour force and ability to attract workers to a unique tropical, metropolitan location that offers exceptional lifestyle choices.
