John Holland Aviation Services adds aircraft paint capability

John Holland Aviation Services (JHAS) has today announced it will launch a new aircraft paint service at Melbourne Airport early in 2010.

This major new investment is part of a strategy to deliver a comprehensive set of aviation maintenance services to its Australasian commercial airline and defence customers.

The latest spray finishing technology will be procured, with the new service to operate as a dedicated line within JHAS’ facility at Tullamarine.

Co-location with JHAS’ composites repair unit will enable the provision of integrated maintenance services on an increasing number of aircraft with composite structures.

"Airlines are increasingly looking for integrated maintenance services to ensure they can maintain route schedules while meeting their obligations for ongoing maintenance," said David Harvey, Executive General Manager of John Holland’s Services business.

"The hallmark of the new capability will be the availability of the latest technologies, processes and next generation materials to ensure the provision of high quality paint services."

In addition to facility and equipment improvements, JHAS has also committed to further investment in training and development for its workforce.

This investment in professional development further cements JHAS’ reputation for delivering high quality aviation maintenance services.

"With an ongoing reduction in internal aviation maintenance capabilities, the commercial and defence aviation sectors continue to seek services that promote efficiency in both cost and service disruption," said Andrew Henderson, General Manager, John Holland Aviation Services.

"This new capability will enhance our position as a ‘one-stop shop’ for aviation maintenance services."

At its initial operating capacity, the new JHAS paint service will accommodate the frames of both B737-NG and A320 commercial aircraft and most military aircraft, up to and including the dimensions of an AP-3C Orion.
