International Association of Flight Training Professionals looks to expand

Are you involved in pilot training or is pilot competence important to your operation?

If so, the efforts of the International Association of Flight Training professionals (IAFTP) to help improve global pilot training effectiveness should be of interest to you.

There are as many ways to teach flying as there are good instructors. And, each of these good instructors has developed special ways to guide students toward becoming safe and competent pilots instead of simply accumulating hours to a minimum standard.

Until now it has been too hard to share such personal techniques beyond the local flight line.  IAFTP is helping make this much easier by creating an online global clearinghouse for pilot training practices and techniques.

Each month, the public area of the IAFTP website features an article written by an aviation training professional that focuses on a high priority pilot training topic.

Topics planned for the coming months include upset recovery, loss of control in flight, runway incursions/excursions, level busts, communications, crew resource management, loss of separation, and safety management systems.

Readers are then encouraged to share their own personal training practices or techniques for achieving competence in that topic.

If you are an aviation training professional and would like to share some of your own training practices, consider getting involved.

And, you can become a 2011 IAFTP Individual Professional Member without paying any membership fee if you submit five training practices this year. Just complete the online membership application.
