Diamond DA42-NG makes first visit to Australia

Hawker Pacific has announced that the first Diamond DA 42NG ‘Twin Star’, featuring the Austro diesel engine, will touch down for the first time in Australia.

The aircraft departed Diamond Aircraft headquarters in Austria on an epic ferry flight through Bulgaria, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, India, Thailand, Brunei, Indonesia and finally into Darwin covering over 7150nm in seven days, before continuing on to Sydney.

A countrywide demonstration tour showcasing the Diamond DA 4NG and the DA 40CS is planned for early next year.

Tony Jones, Senior Vice President, Aircraft Sales and Flight Services Group, said: “Hawker Pacific is excited to now offer the Austro-engine powered aircraft.

"The Austro AE300 engine DA42-NG has had sales success internationally and we believe there is a strong market for this type of next generation aircraft in Australia and the Pacific.

“The DA42-NG is available with larger fuel tanks that have a range of 2000kms with a 60 per cent power setting at 14,000 feet, with a fuel burn of only 38.9 litres per hour total (for both engines). These are incredible figures for a piston engine twin.”

Equipped with twin Jet A1-powered AE300 turbo diesel engines produced by Austro Engine GmbH, the next generation aircraft is renowned for its extreme range, which makes it perfectly suited to cross country travel.

Because of its single lever control and fully integrated avionics, the DA42 can be operated almost as easily as a single engine aircraft.

The four-seater DA42-NG offers premium luxury amenities such as leather seats, brushed aluminum and carbon fibre trim details, and has a spacious nose baggage compartment which can fit up to two golf clubs.

It is also a popular choice for leading international flight schools because of its jet-like thrust control, advanced Garmin G1000 glass cockpit and the ability to fly approaches and procedures in conditions similar to light jets and turboprops, which makes the aircraft the perfect next-step aircraft for new pilots.

Hawker Pacific is the appointed distributor for Diamond Aircraft throughout Australia and New Zealand.
