CNN lists 787 'myths and facts'

US media heavyweight CNN has taken a close look at the soon-to-be-operational B787 to see if it has lived up to its promise.

Here's the scorecard:

* You'll have a lot more space: False

Boeing originally pitched the 787 with eight seats across in the economy cabin, but many airlines have already opted for nine.

* You'll have a better view out the window: True

The 787 has windows that are 65 per cent bigger than usual.

* Window shades are no more: True

Instead of shades there are dimmers on the windows.

* You'll feel better when you fly: True

The 787 will be pressurised at 6000 ft instead of the usual 8000 ft, which certainly should have a positive effect.

* Turbulence will be thing of the past: False

While it's true that you'll stillfeel turbulence on the 787, Boeing has been working on new systems to help minimise the impact. You will still feel turbulence but it should be less than on previous generation ariliners.

Will the airplane offer a better passenger experience?

Yes, but it may not be the revolution you'd like.
