Cablex Pty Ltd Australia has been selected by Martin-Baker Aircraft Co in the United Kingdom to provide the US16E Ejection Seat wiring harness assemblies for the Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II aircraft.
Steve Roberts, Martin-Baker JSF Programme Manager, flew to Melbourne 30 March to formally provide Cablex with their first order.
Steve commented, “We are delighted to have Cablex on board our programme - they are the first Australian supplier to have been competitively selected by Martin-Baker under the JSF International Industrial Participation initiative.
"Engineering transfer will begin in late April with the launch of the first qualification assemblies to prepare for the manufacture of the first Flight sets at the end of 2011 for the LRIP Seats.”
Michael Zimmer, Managing Director of Melbourne-based Cablex, said: “Cablex is proud to have been selected to work with Martin Baker on the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) programme.
"It is the culmination of a long and persistent campaign over six years to secure the first order.
"Projected revenues are in excess A$30 million over the life of the programme."
