Brisbane Airport's Growth Incentive Rebate Scheme update

Brisbane Airport Corporation has released figures from the last financial year regarding its Growth Incentive Rebate Scheme.

As part of its Growth Incentive Rebate Scheme, which has been in place since 2005, BAC paid nearly AU$5 million to airlines that increased passenger numbers over the last financial year.

The scheme sees BAC rebate 50 per cent of its passenger service charge to airlines that achieve growth in passenger volumes of more than five per cent on the previous year, with the monies intended for re-investment in passenger marketing to grow demand.

BAC’s General Manager Aviation Business Development, Cam Macphee, said the rebate scheme had been used very successfully in the past by airlines to drive growth into Queensland.

“The rebate is both a reward and an incentive for airlines to increase passenger numbers each year and provides essential funds for operators to promote their services to Brisbane,” Macphee said.

“It also allows BAC to share the benefit of growing passenger activity and is a central instrument in investing in the continuing success of our airline partners.”

Successful activities funded to date by the GIRS include advertising across all mediums, travel agent incentives and functions, sales staff training, tactical campaign advertising, and website upgrades.

In the six years it has been in place, BAC’s Growth Incentive Rebate Scheme has contributed more than $25 million towards airline campaigns promoting Brisbane and Queensland.
