Bankstown Airport to enhance community interface

Bankstown Airport is seeking formal applications from interested members from the airport's surrounding communities to apply for selection to its Bankstown Airport Community Aviation Consultation Group.

“The Airport is required to convene an Airport Community Consultation Group following a range of changes introduced under the National Aviation Policy White Paper," said Colin Grove, CEO, Sydney Metro Airport Bankstown.

"For Bankstown Airport this means we are disbanding the Bankstown Airport Community Consultative Forum and replacing it with the Airport Community Consultation Group.

"The new requirements for the Group are modeled on the former Bankstown Forum.

"The role of the Bankstown Airport Community Aviation Consultation Group is to enable stakeholders to be consulted and involved in issues relating to the development and operation of Bankstown Airport in a constructive and effective manner.

“The Airport is inviting interested members of the community to apply for selection to join the Bankstown Airport Community Aviation Consultation Group (BACACG).

"The Group will be convened by an independent chair. The changes set out in the National Aviation Policy White Paper enables the Airport to seek to broaden the membership base and allow for increased membership of the consultative group for the Airport."

The Bankstown Airport Community Aviation Consultation Group members will serve in a voluntary capacity to assist in identifying and prioritising issues of interest to both the Airport and the community.

The Bankstown Airport Community Consultative Group seeks to:

  • Identify local issues to be considered during the airport development process.
  • Assist in resolving and prioritising issues based on local knowledge.
  • Present the views of the broader community.
  • Review drafts of development plans and provide comment.
  • Brief the community on the development and operation of the Airport.
  • Table at meetings the views of community-based organisations and the broader community.

“We encourage interested people to review the Bankstown Airport Master Plan 2005, the Bankstown Airport Environment Strategy 2010 and the Bankstown Airport Community Consultation Group Charter & Procedures along with the Community Aviation Consultation Groups Guidelines which are all available on our website,” concluded Mr Grove.

Selection application forms are available to download from our website or by telephoning 02 8709 9400. Applications close at 5pm Friday 23 September, 2011.
