In an extension of a prior appointment to undertake land use planning at Ballina Airport, Ballina Shire Council has engaged Gateway Project Partners to undertake a masterplanning and commercial feasibility analysis for the adjoining Southern Cross Industrial Estate.
The Estate adjoins the Airport and has "exciting potential" for the creation of an integrated airport economic zone through roads and infrastructure development.
Harvey Norman recently opened a 13,000m2 bulky goods centre in the Estate, creating significant momentum for the precinct and adding further support to the concept of an integrated Airport Economic Zone.
