Airbiz, the international aviation business consultancy, held its recent biannual workshop in Creswick, a town two hours drive from Melbourne.
Twenty-seven team members from six offices took part in a two day workshop, where they developed skills and behaviours to overcome everyday challenges within the workplace.
Day one, facilitated by a business coach and behavioural expert,
provided employees with an opportunity to apply newly adopted skills and
behaviours into real-life scenarios.
Following a full day of activities
on the Friday, the team finished the day with the Airbiz Nations Cup soccer
match, Australia versus The Rest of the World (dependent on place of birth).
Australia proved to be the better team on the day, winning 5-3!
On day
two, the Airbiz team participated in volunteer work through Hepburn Shire
Council Flood Recovery. This not–for-profit organisation put Airbiz in touch
with Joe Curran, an elderly resident who was severely affected by the
devastating floods earlier in the year.
Perfect weather on the Saturday set the scene for a “Backyard Blitz”. All team members worked together to rebuild the front and rear yards of the property.
After eight hours of hard work, the “Backyard Blitz” was complete. Joe had a new front fence, front and rear garden and an organised, tidy shed, which still shows the 1.5 meter high water mark on the walls. The end result was overwhelming for Airbiz, Joe and his family.
The Airbiz Christmas Party later that night was a great way to finish
off the workshop and celebrate the achievements accomplished in the two days.
Lachlan Quick; Manager, Media and Community Information, Victoria State
Emergency Service presented a moving presentation illustrating the destruction
the 2011 floods had on lives and property while highlighting the hurdles ahead
as rebuilding continues.
Every year Airbiz engages in volunteer work during their biannual workshops. Airbiz Managing Director Greg Fordham continues to encourage his team and other companies to support the local community.
